Liberty MultiTrainer (LMT) Strength Training Program
Why the LMT Program?
Weakest Link: Strength is the weakest link in the "fitness chain" for older adults, and strength training, is the first line of defense against muscle loss that occurs with age.
Fighting Frailty: Strength training is a powerful tool against age-related frailty.
Older adults- living in these community settings- need regular, progressive
strength training exercise to combat frailty and dependence.
Benefits of the LMT Program
Functioning & Capacity: Functioning and capacity are the ability to carry out the activities of daily living, including the activities that bring us joy and give meaning to our lives.
Building up baseline strength, will help improve functioning, mobility and reduce risk for falls. Only strength training covers so many fitness attributes.
As the Liberty MultiTrainer is fully mobile, Residents can exercise in the comfort of their rooms.
Measuring Progress
Progress Reports: Tracking fitness progress is imperative. All LMT program participants will have their fitness parameters measured using tests that were developed to be safe and fun while still meeting scientific standards for reliability and validity.
Initial and quarterly fitness assessment tests and progress reports are completed and copies are provided for each participant and their family members.
