The LMT program is a personalized strength and conditioning program for older adults living in retirement, assisted living and residential care communities.
Why the LMT Program?
Strength is the weakest link in the "fitness chain" for older adults, and strength training is the first line of defense against muscle loss that occurs with age.
Older adults- living in these community settings- need regular, progressive strength training exercise to combat frailty and dependence.
Benefits of the LMT Program
Building up baseline strength, will help improve function, mobility and reduce risk for falls.
As the Liberty MultiTrainer is fully mobile, Residents can exercise in the comfort of their rooms.
Measuring Progress
Older adults need to have adequate strength, endurance and flexibility to complete the activities of daily living.
Assessing these fitness components for weaknesses is important. All LMT program participants will have their fitness assessed using tests that were developed to be safe and fun for older adults, while still meeting scientific standards for reliability and validity.
Initial and quarterly fitness assessment tests and progress reports are completed for each participant in the LMT program.
